Cowtown USA 2023 is in the books! It was an enjoyable tournament, filled with great players and great sports, and was a warm (too warm, owing to the inability to get the air conditioning working correctly) and welcoming crowd.
Division A was headlined by two young phenoms: Mack Meller and Zachary Ansell. Mack asserted his dominance early, and held the lead throughout the tournament, finishing with a record of 6-1 +651, and winning $150. Zach dropped one more game than Mack, and was briefly contending with others vying for the second spot. But, he surged in the final rounds, and finished at seed in second place, earning $100. Josh Kopczak finished ahead of his seeding by one place, taking 3rd place to win $50.
The high scoring word (out of the prize money) in Division A was ANOREXY, played by Joe South for 98 points. The best MANURES word was MANURES, with all 7 letters in the word, scoring 73, and played by Mike Stafford.

A hotly contested Division C was won by Penny Sitler, with a record of 6-1 +455, taking home $130. She edged out Patrick Beatrez, who led the division for much of the day, but finished at 6-1 +397, to take second place by spread, winning $80. Third place went to Cecilia Huber, who finished at 4-3 +83 to win $50.

Like Division C, Division D had a lot of trades of the lead. Ultimately, Tina Yates emerged victorious, with a record of 6-1 +534 to win $130. Second place went to Gaurang Shah, who also finished at 6-1, but had a cume of +311 to win $80. Meredith Cline finished in third with a record of 5-2 +223, winning $50.
