Kelly McKenzie, the only player after seven rounds better than 4-3 (he's 5-2) is at the featured table to close the day. We've got the bugs from earlier in the day worked out and have a good setup; camera clearly on the board, a camera clearly on each rack. Like I've said earlier, can't wait to catch up on those games when I get home!
Steve Knapp vs. Joe South at the featured table this game, in part because neither has been there yet.
Interesting scenario there after a bingo of D(O)WNHILL stopped one short of a TWS. Joe South had the S but passed in hooking it and was chagrined to find it was good after challenging Knapp's 72-point play hooking the S.
Looks like someone in the Jason J. Smith/Steve Krieger game extended the opening play of GLAND to GANGLAND hitting the triple. Nice!
Dan Stock has SEQ?OIA on his rack while I see SEqUOIAS on a board a few feet away in the undercard.
Stocky also got admittedly insanely lucky when he drew INSANEY post-bingo and had an open L to play through.
Round 7 results (Ohio wins the round 4-3, leads 26-23):
Brian Bowman and Jason J. Smith at the featured table this round. After Kelly McKenzie's 12-point win last round, I'm looking forward to catching up on these games after the tournament's over ... had some really close, exciting games there.
Joe South's 472-470 win over Steve Grob last round included his 140-point ENdEMI(A)L, challenged by Steve. New leader for the "High MI word" prize!
Round 6 results (Ohio wins round 5-2, leads 22-20):
By luck of the draw, Alex Fiszbein and Kelly McKenzie are running 1-2 after four rounds, and they're our featured game this round. Ben now has a system with a camera on the board and one on each rack, which should make it easier to follow along. Check it out and let us know how you like it!
Big round here, as Michigan's wins total has tapered off each round from 5 to 4 to 3 to 2. It's an 11-round tournament now.
Featured table game is Jeff Clark vs. Steve Krieger. Will try to provide some color this round.
Looks like a good game between Kopczak and Grob; they each opened with bingos (VISIONs for Grob; O(V)ERLOAD for Josh) and Josh later added a 110-point double-double of (L)IMBERLY, a very nice find. Josh's 131-point TOQUETS sealed the deal.
Round 4 results (Ohio wins the round 5-2, tied 14-14):
Jason J. Smith, in first place after two rounds at 2-0, +296, and Pete Zeigler are at the featured table. Follow along with the "Live Streaming" link at the right.
Round 3 results (Ohio wins round 4-3, trails 12-9):
Jeff Fiszbein and Steve Krieger are having a bingo fest, five on the board with the game half over. "Used to be two bingos and the game's over," said the veteran Krieger. "I've played three already and I'm behind!" (Turns out the fourth bingo was the one Jeff couldn't overcome.)
ARGINASE is on two separate boards; the afore-mentioned Krieger game and the Jason J. Smith/Joe South board.
Josh Kopczak played STIBN(IT)ES on Alex Fiszbein.
EVZONES is on the Steve Knapp/Kelly McKenzie board, in honor of a player who will be eligible for this tournament next year! (Kelly bingoed with it natural and is now trying to claim Berofsky as an Ohio resident.)
Featured table game this round is Brian Bowman vs. Steve Grob, a close game as I type this. Ben Friesen has made a few tweaks to the coverage (Quackling along to add commentary, etc.); definite improvement!
Round 2 results (Michigan takes the round 4-3, ahead 9-5):
