4:23 PM: Start the live blogging! Pairings are, in order of their standing within their team, Bowman/A. Fiszbein, McKenzie/Smith, Grob/Krieger, J. Fiszbein/South, Clark/Stock, Pianowski/Zeigler and Kopczak/Knapp.
4:26 PM: At the featured table, Alex Fiszbein opens with CURTAIL. His post-bingo draw is TZAREVA ... and Brian plays an N in the wrong spot.
4:27 PM: Again, 49-49 and whoever wins this round wins the tournament.
4:32 PM: Michigan strikes first on two other boards: Knapp's RAMEKIn and Grob's (L)ANGUETS. McKenzie and Smith trade bingos: REPENTS for Jason and TRUsTER for Kelly.
4:39 PM: Bowman takes the lead at the featured table by playing cAIQU(E) for 72 and drawing the other blank, playing what I believe would be (c)OALEScE judging from his verbal blank designation. Zeigler gets the first bingo in his game with TRoLLEY.
4:42 PM: Pianowski gets away with (C)ARBOnED*; CARBOyED is good, though.
4:47 PM: Looks good for Michigan ... Knapp has GEOI?AL set up on his rack (it has a home, not sure if it's his turn) and Clark played MUSH (missing HUMaTES and MUTcHES) for a 24-point lead with the case blank.
4:53 PM: Did some unused tally slip collecting ... not sure where things stand, but tally slips should start coming in in a few. Alex did seem a bit aggrieved when he restarted the clock after what I assume what resolving a score discrepancy, though.
4:57 PM: Spoke too soon on the Knapp game ... Kopczak actually leads, coming down to a tight endgame. Grob looks to be comfortably up on Krieger. Can't really tell about the rest of the room.
4:59 PM: Ben reports that Bowman has won the featured table game, and therefore the tournament. His third MvO win.
5:04 PM: Kopczak beats Knapp. 50-49 Ohio.
5:07 PM: Looks like Ohio's if Bowman makes 51, Kelly McKenzie (well up on Smith) makes 52 and Joe South makes 53, and I believe South has beaten Jeff Fiszbein.
Brian Bowman and Alex Fiszbein, both playing like the top seeds for their teams that they are (if that makes sense), are at the featured table.
Thought it was going to be a 5-2 Ohio round before Steve Grob's comeback win. Looks like it'll go down to the last round, barring an Ohio sweep (and all the rounds so far have been 4-3 or 5-2).
Alex Fiszbein and Kelly McKenzie at the featured table ... winner will be leading the tournament as the only 9-3. They run one-two right now with Jason J. Smith the only 7-4 and in third.
Somebody in the South/Grob game has played rELIGIO(US).
Michigan leads the round 3-1 and the tournament 42-39, but it looks like the three games out are all Ohio's. Looks like we'll be tied at 42 coming back from lunch at 2:15.
Round 12 results (Ohio takes the round 4-3, tied at 42-42):
Feels like a football game here .. 14-14, 28-28, 35-35. Will be interesting to see if we're 42-42 heading to lunch. Already getting ready to do a minute-by-minute/live blog of round 15 (and maybe 14).
Steve Grob and Josh Kopczak at the featured table. Hope to put Dan Stock there soon, as he's now the only person who hasn't been there yet.
No featured table game (our video guy isn't a morning person), and color will be light to non-existent as I eat breakfast, etc. Easing our way back into things as last afternoon turned the team competition from an 11-round tourney into a 7-round one.
Brian Bowman, at table 1 right in front of me, was sighing and shaking his head a lot this game. Afterwards, he said "that's ridiccalus," a la Marlon Hill.
